When was the last time you woke up feeling completely refreshed? The staff at Plantation Park Lake Jackson apartments strives to create a comfortable, relaxing community. We understand, however, that lots of people have trouble falling asleep every night. There are hundreds of books, articles and videos out there telling people how to sleep better, but they don’t all work. We’ve come up with a few tips that do work, and we’re excited to share them with you below!
In this week’s post, we’ll be telling residents how to fall asleep faster, stay asleep throughout the night and wake up feeling refreshed. Sleep is about much more than what you do at night before bed. It’s about what you do all day to prepare yourself for a restful night. We’ll explain more below!

Take a cold shower before bed
It’s not easy to commit to taking a cold shower, but this is one of the best ways to get yourself to fall asleep more quickly. Your body has to cool down before it can fall asleep, and that can take awhile when you live in Texas. To speed up the process, we recommend taking a cold shower when you’re ready for fall sleep. This will lower your internal temperature and help your body get to the point where you’re ready to fall asleep.
Cover all the little lights
Next time you turn off all the lights in your room, look around at all the little lights that are still left on. You probably have a small light on your TV, your power strip, your laptop, and your phone charger. Those lights might be little, but they can have a big effect on the quality of your sleep. Your body treats any extra light as sunlight, and even the smallest bit of light can pull you out of your REM sleep. If you want to wake up feeling more refreshed, try covering the little lights with a blanket. Better yet, just unplug them and save yourself some money!
Start working out in the morning
This last piece of advice is the hardest one to follow. It’s hard to force yourself to wake up early and workout, but the results are so worth it. Not only will morning workouts get your metabolism moving, but they’ll help you feel tired at night when you actually want to be tired.
